The idea of rough seas is a metaphor within our collective consciousness. In a time of constantly shifting ideologies, political motives both at home and abroad, I cast myself as the blind captain, navigating my own ignorance and ideology amongst mutiny and turbulent times.
I am 29 years old and have been working as a practicing artist for the past 6 years. Working mainly with painting and drawing.I am currently involved in the Australian art scene and held a position as a director on the board of Alpha House Artist Cooperative. I have held multiple exhibitions throughout Australia and abroad. In 2014 I was awarded the Paris Quarters Residency to create and exhibit works in France. I have also completed residencies in remote communities in WA and in 2017 I was a finalist in 7 Australian art prizes, winning the DP world emerging artist prize. In 2018 I won the Archibald Packing Room Prize. In 2019 I completed two seperate solo exhibitions, one at CarriageWorks for Sydney Contemporary Art Fair and one at Jerico Contemporary. In 2020 I was awarded a residency at Buinho, Messejana, Portugal but due to a global pandemic this has been rescheduled.
