This artwork comes with an external frame

The naked figure lies awkwardly and half cropped out of frame. He is middle aged and has a pale bloated belly. The tan lines on his neck and arm indicate we are being shown parts of the figure's body that rarely see the sun – something hidden and intimate is uncovered.

Further complicating the balance of display, vulnerability and consent is the origin of the reference image I have used to create the work. It was uploaded by the man in the image to a photo-sharing website and made available for commercial use. The man is a stranger to me. I continue to work through through the implications of my role as the artist and image-appropriator in regards to the grey areas of consent and use.

The work measures 65x50x4cm framed.
