Lena

This painting was created from life in a life drawing session held in a local artist's studio. With the limited time I had, I tried to show Lena's delicate pose and graceful air. The unfinished background shows the urgency I had in painting. One of my very favourite paintings from life.

Jemma Cakebread is a Melbourne based artist currently working with oil painting and textiles. She drew on everything from books to walls as a kid and kept it up to adulthood, eventually completing further education in the arts against careers advice at highschool. She listens to true crime podcasts while she paints, dislikes going to her own exhibition openings and takes terrible care of her paintbrushes.
