Reflection

I painted this moody nude for last year's Linden Postcard Show. Inspired by Lucian Freud, I focused on the planes of the face and describing the texture and weight on the body.

Jemma Cakebread is a Melbourne based artist currently working with oil painting and textiles. She drew on everything from books to walls as a kid and kept it up to adulthood, eventually completing further education in the arts against careers advice at highschool. She listens to true crime podcasts while she paints, dislikes going to her own exhibition openings and takes terrible care of her paintbrushes.
