This is a large study for an intense still life by the same name. In some ways I prefer this study to the finished piece.

Jemma Cakebread is a Melbourne based artist currently working with oil painting and textiles. She drew on everything from books to walls as a kid and kept it up to adulthood, eventually completing further education in the arts against careers advice at highschool. She listens to true crime podcasts while she paints, dislikes going to her own exhibition openings and takes terrible care of her paintbrushes.
