Drawing on paper
Signed on the front.
This work is based on the 3rd century AD Roman Emperor Maximinus Thrax, reputed to have been a giant of a man (ancient sources saying over 8ft tall - most likely an exaggeration). Nevertheless he was known to be a huge, powerful man and I attempted to capture this in portraying these three busts of him, complimented by the solid forms that emphasize the stature of this Roman Emperor.
This drawing is definitely one of my most labour-intensive although I found the biro a joy to worth with as it allowed me to echo the soft tonal variations that could normally be achieved with a pencil.
