Some birds have such a strong presence that they lend themselves to having their portrait painted. Masked Lapwings are large, ground dwelling birds mostly living on the edges of forests and wetlands, feeding on insects. On this painting I have highlighted the strong yellow of the wattle and the red legs against a background of purple / blue, representing water. The painting is framed in a 3cm wide, soft golden coloured timber frame, ready to hang.
