Artwork Description

My mark making is a way to show the energy surrounding us all and I have found myself intuitively drawing with a sense of joy and freedom that has definitely become much more present in my work since arriving back from our trip around Oz. Forever intertwined with all there is, what I see and what I feel as I realise that my connection to nature has strengthened and with it my need to show all that is felt as well as seen informing my Art more than ever'
Cassie the curious - giraffe was just the most beautiful photograph sent to me by a friend , I just had to paint her, that face, how could I not!
This painting is mixed media which means it is acrylic paint, spray paint, posca pens and a little ink here and there. I always start with a lot of Acrylic paint , spray paint and much spontaneity to create the beautiful texture that is very tangible in real life, it is always difficult to show this in a photo.
This painting would look beautiful in a children’s room, certainly giving a sense of joy and colour and would suit most neutral colour schemes providing a pop of colour and fun of course!
I haven’t had this particular painting framed as it does look good without one but of course framing is always offered by myself by request.

Artist statement ‘
A painting is never finished, it merely stops at an interesting place’ A painting does not feel like it is mine until the essence of the subject is exposed, the texture tangible with layers revealing a glimpse of what has passed whilst concealing that which enhances the surface. Fragility, spontaneity, line and vibrant colour inform my work, the need to reveal that which cannot be seen is a constant and for this reason process is replaced with gesture and chance. The invisible tension between abstraction and form is my obsession, perfection is found always within the beauty of imperfection and courage is needed to unveil the distinction between the two. Always made with love and inspired by nature in one form or another
