I wanted to tell a story about a collection of objects gathered over time—treasured finds discovered in op shops, fresh fruit from my kitchen, a breakfast egg, and sunflowers from my neighbours garden and hydrangeas generously cut from a friend's garden.
Each object has travelled its own path before arriving in my studio, carrying traces of unknown lives and stories from those who once owned and cherished them.
By bringing these items together, I created a new narrative. I am drawn to the idea that ordinary objects can hold memories, histories and connections that extend beyond their practical purpose.
My aim was to bring together florals, treasured objects and simple morning rituals to create a story of comfort, belonging and the quiet beauty that can be found in everyday moments.
Working in a loose, contemporary style, I focused on capturing the warmth of the yellows against the cool blues, the variety of textures, and the atmosphere created by the arrangement. While influenced by the tradition of still life painting, this work is less about recording objects and more about celebrating the stories they carry and the quiet pleasure of giving them a new place in the present.
