I am a Melbourne based artist. My work includes both drawings in charcoal, graphite, colour pencil, pastels, extensive use of various erasures and oil and acrylic paintings. After leaving work as an IT professional I devoted myself full time to my arts practice. I am an active member for over ten years in Open Studio at The Art Room in Footscray. There I have attended numerous courses covering the fundamentals of drawing and painting, colour theory and workshops in life drawing, composition, abstraction and more.
My earliest inspirations were the works of Aubrey Beardsley and Ergon Schiele. I think these influences can be detected in much of my work. Lately with the physical, mental and emotional impact of the pandemic, the lockdowns and isolation my work has become more introverted and introspective. I am working in self portraiture, family and interpersonal groups. I also like place these In surreal nature like surroundings. I enjoy experimenting with different mediums and methods. I begin with a basic concept. I may then push, pull, erase, cover, wipe out during the process of completing the finished piece. This process often leads to a completely unexpected result, which usually makes me happy.
I am happy to get quotes for stretching or framing any of canvas or smaller drawings which will be matted and under glass. Cost of matting, framing of large drawings under glass and shipping extra weight is expensive and best done locally with buyer. Buyer can also best judge how framing will compliment their decor.
