Part of a recent body of work that has evolved during recent times, An abstract landscape is covered in a veneer of mark making, obscuring the scene below. The work commences with layers of colour, these layers went down in a chaotic way. Such free abandonment, and defiance to conform.
The mark making is a way of drawing it all back to some semblance of order, and conformity, thus the final layer of mark making and brush strokes are the antithesis of the layers below.
The inspiration began with my passion for Impressionism, mark making in the final layer is however more defined and intense this juxtaposition results in a mesmerizing composition.
This is an emotive response to current circumstances I am therefore fully invested in the final outcome.
This work is inspired by a collection of mosaics in my studio, and ocean colours and the elements , I am lucky enough to live next to the beach, it is a constant inspiration for me.
The sides are 3.5cm deep and are painted blue, this work therefore does not need to be framed unless the collector prefers it to be, in which case blue thumb offer that option.
