After watching the sun set and moon rise over Westernport Bay I wanted to capture the glow of the inbetween time, when trees are silhouetted and the fading light glows through the gaps between the leaves. Eventide is also used as a metaphor for life in decline; fading. The light and dark greys in this painting appear to fade into an indeterminate fluid space, which I see as the welcoming water, which will transform the ashes of what once lived into new life forms.
