I have worked on this canvas over many months, building up the layers to create the depth of colour and mixing the blue and orange complementary tones until they were perfectly matched. Once again inspired by the coastlines of South Gippsland, my aim was to capture the vibrance of sea meeting land and sky. Forms and fragments of marine life are buoyant in the sea, while the sky is a fluid arch of soft orange, suggesting the setting sun after a hot summer day.
