Whenever I want to cheer myself up, I just paint cats from my imagination. I have always enjoyed drawing animals, but it never interested me that much to paint cats, until I stumbled upon the work of Laurel Burch. When I saw here whimsical , colourful cats, I fell in love, and knew I had to paint cats.
It did not take long before I developed my own style of painting cats, but I am not one to settle into one style, but rather to play and experiment with different ideas. Picasso , Klee , Rousseau and other abstract , naive, primitive and surrealists are also influences. I love the fact that I don't have to paint what's in front of me, but can invent, and paint fantasy and dreams.
