This artwork is part of an ongoing series using Art Dolls to explore various themes. This particular piece explores our sense of safety from others and from ourselves, the fragility of the world that we construct around us.
The Doll Series: I am intrigued by the fine line between the doll as a sculptural art form in itself, and the idea of the Art Doll as a "toy" - to personify (to dress, add makeup, pose, admire and photograph). I change the context of the original doll images to explore a range of themes. They are engaging, yet absent: Lifeless, yet immortal. Quiet, yet loaded with emotion and symbolic intrigue.
