Artwork Description

'Lizzy' was inspired by the beauty and tactile nature of flowers, specifically, the beautiful Bearded Iris.

Within my art practice, I am influenced by themes of gender, sexuality, nature, and the female experience.

My artworks combine elements of drawing and painting and I take my time to explore the textures and layers of paint on the substrate.

Lizzy's soft and velvety petals echo the sensual and tactile nature of the female reproductive system.
My artworks draw a comparison between the vulva and the flower. Both are both reproductive systems, and both vital for the survival of their species.

Lizzy has been painted using the best artist materials to ensure the archival quality of the work. She has a 5mm border around her for ease of framing. Measurements given are for the artwork size within the border.

Artist Bio

I am a visual artist working within the mediums of watercolour, acrylic, and pen. My artworks combine elements of drawing and painting and I take my time to explore the textures and layers of paint on the substrate. By using use emotive, saturated colour, and gradients of light, I aim to create an essence of the divine in my work.

My style is representational and figurative in nature, influenced by themes of gender, identity, sexuality, nature, beauty and the female experience. I desire to empower the viewer and influence their perception of beauty by encouraging them to seek a viewpoint outside of the orthodox social constructs. This narrative is evident in my artworks depicting the reproductive system of the female body and plant kingdom. My artworks of animals are intended to remind us of the character and beauty of all sentient creatures on earth, and how our choices and actions affect all living beings.

Largely self-taught in my style, I formally studied visual arts at Byron Bay Community College and Southern Cross University. My work has been exhibited in a number of shows and my art is held in private collections worldwide.
