Stop blindly accepting that you can't or won't do things based on the judgement made by others. Ask why not when presented with a list of things you "cannot" do.
My son has autism. The doctor's diagnosis came with a list of No. A list of things he would never do.
Every one of those things I challenged. I educated myself on cognitive processing and how the brain functions, I went to every function, every meeting, every workshop until I knew what I could do to help him....and now you wouldnt even know that my amazing son was previously non verbal until age 5, considered low level functioning and that you couldnt hold his hand without him screaming and hurting himself....now he is considered high level functioning, in mainstream schooling and seems just like every other 11 year old boy.
Always ask why and why not. Always challenge final statements. Always try.
