Kerry was born and raised in the picturesque South Coast of New South Wales an hour south of Sydney. This beautiful area between the mountains and the sea, surrounded by dairy farms, beaches and rain forest inspires her art. As do her daily walks around Lake Illawarra.
She says: 'drawing has been a part of me as long as I have memories'. Making art constantly challenges Kerry. She loves sharing her work and vision of the natural world with others and gets a real buzz when her art brings others enjoyment.
Kerry's early work consisted mostly of water colours of birds and native wildlife. Later she focused on portraiture, undertaking many commissions.
Studying art led to a love of print making, she says she fell in love with every aspect of the process. This together with working as a drafts person has heavily influenced her work which can be recognised by the fine precise line work and mark making, particularly in her small intimate works in Biro.
While primarily a water colour and acrylic artist, Kerry also enjoys the freedom of mixed media, allowing the medium to drive the work beyond her original vision.
In 2021 Kerry began the series Carpology, drawings of seeds nuts and banksia pods. She continues to explore this intriguing theme with its many forms and structures.
