The red-tailed black cockatoo aslo known as Banksian or Banks' black cockatoo is a large black cockatoo native to Australia.
They are usually found in eucalyptus woodlands, or along water courses, and they are commonly seen in large flocks. They are seed eaters and cavity nesters and because of that depend on large diameter trees which are generally the eucalyptus trees.
The black cockatoo represents spirit and soul strengthening. This representation suggests the presence of strong energy that represents enthusiasm, alertness and happiness.
I am often asked where all the colours in my black cockatoos come from. What can i say, my eyes see things very differently. The way the light falls on their feathers and the colours that bounce of that light, reflections of flowers surrounding them, pulls all those colours into the bird that you will see if you look closely and hard enough.
Another feathery friend I adore.
