In 'Nautical Life Abstract' I concentrated on creating more fine layers than my other abstracts. This was in an effort to try and capture both depth and subtle light shimmers that can be seen through water. The "balls" of life are organic clusters and are representations of the contrasting elements found in the ocean. I have become a keen ocean swimmer in recent months, and although this has often been the subject of my work, I feel myself wanting to capture the more nuanced experiences I have while swimming.
The work is all acrylic paint and some of which is created as "acrylic skins" and painted onto the canvas as collage. It has a satin resin varnish, is float-framed in oak and comes ready to hang.
