This wonderful sculpture from perhaps 200BC is called THE CHIARAMONTI NIOBID and is in a gallery in Rome. On many levels I am amazed by this sculpture, not least of all being such a deep knowledge of marble that the sculptor knew the marble he chose for the work would not split despite the divine detail of the folds of fabric. This painting is a dream of owning this sculpture & positioning it at the edge of my imaginary garden with a magnificent vista.
