Artwork Description

Two rainbow lorikeets sitting with Australian bush flowers, symbolically in the shape of a rainbow. Created by Sydney bird artist Leni Kae, from her series “Animal Spirit”.

“Rainbow Lorikeets are one of the most striking Australian birds - beautiful and fascinating with their colour combination. It’s always amazed me how a creature that is so bright and colourful can camouflage so well – until they are seen sitting amongst Australia’s beautiful bush florals.

What truly captures me is the energy and personality of Rainbow Lorikeets. They are such happy little birds, so energetic, social and open to connection. Over the years, I have made quite a few backyard friendships with these beautiful birds. It started with a pair of lorikeets like the ones I have painted, who returned with more friends.

To me, their spirit is a symbol of optimism, fun, connection and bright new beginnings – like the rainbow itself - and this is what I’ve aimed to capture in this artwork. “ - Leni Kae

From Leni Kae’s series “Animal Spirit”. Created with watercolour & mixed media on paper.
