In a friend’s Buderim garden, sipping frosty wine, I am dazzled by a delicious cornucopia of colour that embraces us both with vibrant warmth. This is no curated space but rather a frenzy of forms and tones, a riotous, random jungle: an unbridled celebration of the joy of colour.
I am fascinated by the capacity of the human soul to find moments of rejoicing even in the darkest of times. Celebratory strong shades against a dark background are reminiscent of those brief, ecstatic moments when friendship’s balm soothes souls that are seeking solace. Powerful brush strokes come from a place of strength: a strength that is nurtured and nourished by friendship and the glorious beauties of nature. The beholder, their gaze drawn and held by the playful interweaving of brilliant tints, imagines rich, subtropical fragrances, the calls of birds and the soft rustling of leaves in a balmy coastal breeze.
