Have you ever wondered why people have different skin tones?

Have you ever thought what the Sun has to do with it?

Dating back to our evolution, when ancestereal humans settled in different parts of the planet, the body started to adapt to the different conditions. Where the sun was the harshest (equator and nearby), the human skin evolved to have darker skin tones, to adapt to the harmful UV rays. While people away from the equator had lighter skin tones as they did not need to worry about the harms caused by UV rays.

Our skin tones are different because we humans learned to survive through our evolution. Its like the sun was our artist and it created a pallette of human colours. Then really, why do we differentiate our fellow beings on the basis of this colour.

My painting shows a human and its relationship with the sun. The part of her body closest to the sun is darkest and gradually changes to brown to the lightest tone on the part farthest from the sun.

She is a Global citizen, she has all the colours and features of all races. Her black to red to blonde hair, her dark to brown to white skin tone, her monolid eyes, freckles, braids will make you think of her race, but she has got all the colours, because she is near and also far from the sun.

With folded hands, she is asking for peace and respect for all humankind, irrespective of race.
