Artwork Description

Once again, inspiration for this painting came to me early one morning a couple of weeks ago. I was sound asleep when an image and the music ("In The Navy" by The Village People) woke me. It was such a wonderful dream that I scribbled it down on my notepad (which is always on my beside table, just in case I get a nocturnal inspiration!) to make sure that I didn't forget it. Tried to get a few more hours sleep but finally got out of bed and into my studio at 7am to get started on it. Painted a navy coloured background on the canvas while "In The Navy" played in the background. Was not sure where to go next, then..... voila it all came to me! Musical notes, cute little blue birds wearing naval captains' hats! A little kitsch, a little bit quirky but I love it! Absolutely thrilled with this conversion of my idea to a image on canvas. Do hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. Would make a fabulous gift for children whose parents are in the navy or for those who's partners are away at sea!

This painting is signed on the front and a laminated, numbered Certificate of Authenticity is included.

PLEASE NOTE: In the photos, where the painting is shown mounted on a wall, these are purely for illustrative purposes. You should review the dimension of the artwork to be sure the work suits your needs.

Artist Bio

Hi I'm Lisa, an Australian artist residing in rural NSW. I paint in her studio almost every day and enjoy producing artworks in a variety of styles and genres. I thrive on variety, challenge and a passion for colour, vibrant or subdued, as is evident in my work.

My style is thematically and stylistically diverse, deliberate and intended. It doesn't fit happily under a single descriptor as it encompasses impressionism, whimsical, surreal and the absurd. As an artist my greatest challenge is to produce paintings that transfer my abstract ideas and mental visions to tangible images on canvas.

I create my images from ideas and inspirations derived from eclectic sources such as common phrases, play on words, juxta-positioning objects with objects and animals with objects, homonyms, colour journeys and from nature itself. I pay particular attention to placement, exploration into colour and composition in each artwork. Various techniques such as pointillism, sponging, impasto work and more traditional brushwork is used and I am never afraid to try new methods to produce each piece.

I am an intuitive artist who remains seriously committed to my art and I intend to continue exploring ideas, processes and techniques for many years to come!

I hope that my artworks evoke emotion and allow you to feel and see something special. Please follow me on this wonderful creative journey and feel free to message me via the inbox if you have any queries on any of my artworks.

Thank you so much for supporting Australian Artists and for taking the time to view my artwork it means sop much to me!
