Bilbies at One Tree Hill
By Little Heath
March 2024
Camerons Corner in far west NSW is where the borders of SA , Qld & NSW meet . It is extremely remote . One special plant is growing alone on a sandy hill . Botanists identified it as an Acacia nealia and estimated it was between 200 and 400 years old !!! When it was a seedling in the 1700s , the landscape looked very different being covered in scrub, grass , Acacias & tall Callitris pine trees . Back then Bilbies flourished which lived in burrows .
I walked around this lonely tree with the same reverence , as Michelangelo's statue,
" The Pieta " .
This painting is about that encounter with a lonely , ancient Acacia .
The story and influence behind this painting will be printed and placed on reverse of the canvas .
This oil painting makes a statement about the vulnerability of planet earth , it is also visualy appealing and will attract both attention & comment. It will look great hanging on any wall of your home.
