Liz H. Lovell is a contemporary Australian artist.
My work explores the relationships between people, plants, wildlife, and the natural environment, highlighting our deep dependence on nature not only for survival but also for beauty, healing, and emotional wellbeing. I am interested in the ways we connect with the world around us and how these connections shape our everyday experiences.
Through my practice, I celebrate the beauty found in ordinary, often overlooked moments and objects, encouraging viewers to pause and appreciate the significance of what is easily taken for granted. By drawing attention to the unseen and the familiar, I hope to inspire a renewed sense of curiosity and gratitude for the world we inhabit.
Anthropomorphism and visual juxtaposition are recurring elements within my work, allowing me to create unexpected relationships between subjects and ideas. I also enjoy reimagining classical artworks through a contemporary lens, exploring how timeless themes of humanity, nature, and society continue to resonate in modern life.
Always drawing the moment I could pick up a pencil. Initial career in investment banking with a Master of Commerce from UNSW, Liz later pursued her never wavering passion for art, completing a Diploma of Visual Arts and further course studies with the National Art School, Julian Ashton, Art Est and other Sydney art institutions. Her work has been featured in ArtEdit Magazine – Best of Flora & Fauna (2018), and she has also trained as a volunteer guide at the Art Gallery of NSW and an art workshop tutor.
When not in the studio, Liz draws inspiration from hiking, kayaking, horse riding and travel, experiences that continue to shape her unique visual narrative of appreciation and importance of the the environment, human connections relationships in particular with our pets and wildlife and each other. There is no limit to the narratives her artworks explore, however, detail, humour is often a feature as reminder of enjoying life on this shared world.
Art narratives may be currently considered corny and I am all ears, but I'll still enjoy the popcorn.
Sustainability: Every artwork is carefully packaged using recycled materials wherever possible, helping reduce waste while ensuring it arrives safely.
