Artist Bio

Liz 's artworks are based on a variety of different aspects of the Australian life as seen with her artworks of beachscapes and high country series as well as observations locally and on travels abroad.

Most artworks tend to feature Australian fauna and flora. as she always feels an affinity with animals. Her artworks have featured in the ArtEdit Magazine, Best of Flora and Fauna , 2018.

Her artworks are painted with the intention to either highlight the beauty for preserving nature with humanity in mind. Often drawing where possible an classical or traditional artworks to provide story telling and link from past to present. A source of great inspiration is Vincent Van Gogh, or even Australia's Elioth Gruner's Spring Frost . Inspiration is also drawn from love of graphic artists like Banksy in political satire and the strong design elements of Japanese paintings such as Hokusai with her painterly modern impressionist brushstrokes. Liz is creates with an intentional contemporary Australian lens in her works and deliberate use of bold colours and vivid brush strokes.

After a career in investment banking with a Masters in Commerce from UNSW, she sought to exercise the other side of her interests. Liz completed Diploma of Visual Arts from Northbridge Visual Arts School (2015, formerly Gallery 307) and attended short courses with National Art School, Julian Ashton and Art Est art amongst many other art courses including pottery around Sydney to develop her art further. Previously a member with the Hornsby Arts Society and Epping Life Drawing class. Previously worked as an art workshop teacher with Bustle Studios in Surry Hills for events.

Further Liz completed training as a Volunteer Art guide with Art Gallery of NSW that enhanced her artistic education greatly, as always her time painting in the studio is her priority in her busy family life with also being a dog mother.

On her days out of the studio she enjoys outdoor activities including travelling, hiking, horse riding and kayaking that continue influence her artworks.

A few of her favourite art quotes are:

Art is not what you see but what you make others see - Edgar Degas
Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life - Pablo Picasso
Art is what makes you breathe with a different kind of happiness - Anni Albers
