‘Arioso’ is the Italian music term for ‘like a singing aria’. In this painting the red accents create the underlying support for the whole composition. It is an abstracted landscape format, allowing the viewer to compose their own aria (song) from the visual clues within the painting. A variety of painting techniques have been incorporated, applied in layers, to give the painting the desired dimensional appeal.
