Artwork Description

The inspiration for this lino print is the 170 year old LOW HEAD Lighthouse, north of Launceston, Tasmania. Tasmania has been one of our favourite holiday destinations for many years, and the lighthouses always feature in photographs from our holidays. Lighthouses have always been an inspiration and much to my surprise, I recently dicovered that an ancestor of mine was a Danish lighthouse .designer.. it will be such a pleasant exploration for my next series of lighthouse paintings and prints…

Artist Bio

Louise is a professional visual artist, living and working on Tamborine Mountain. She aims to capture the spirit of the ideal rural experience. She completed a BA Fine Arts Honours Degree , majoring in Graphic art and Fine Art Printmaking. While still an undergraduate, she won the 'New Signatures' prize for Printmaking, as well as the 'D Clark prize' for excellence in Fine art . She was also a finalist in 'The Martienssen Prize Exhibition'. After many years of teaching (High School)and lecturing (Interior Design school ) , she started painting professionally on a fulltime basis.
Her studio is in Eagle Heights, Tamborine Mountain (QLD), where she specialises in painting, drawing and printmaking. It has fulfilled her life-long ideal of living and integrating into a rural community. A keen world traveller, her work is an expression of rural living.
She works mostly in acrylics, a variety of drawing materials, as well as various printmaking methods, including etching, monoprint , lino and collograph. Her works are included in many private and corporate collections worldwide.
Latest aquisition:The Pindhara Private Hospital on the Gold Coast.
For the last few years she has been actively engaged as Curator for many group exhibitions in the South East Queensland area.
She is a permanent exhibitor at Thunderbird Park, and is currently the ongoing curator of a large group exhibition, which forms part of the new permanent ‘Gallery’ precinct in the reception area of the main building.
