Living on the Victorian surf coast I spend many hours observing and painting the coastline. I wanted to capture not only the beauty of this scene but also the atmosphere at dusk. The light surrounding the the lighthouse and the reflections in contrast to the sky was very dramatic. This area along the Great Ocean Rd is called the Shipwreck coast as it can be very treacherous. The beacon from the 1891 Lighthouse , throughout its history, has offered security to ships and sailors for many years.
