Artwork Description

Some landscapes are dramatic because of what they reveal. Others because of what they quietly hold back.

Beneath the Verdant Tempest explores that moment before weather decides its course. The sky gathers in deep emerald tones, heavy with possibility rather than threat, while below, a solitary flowering tree glows against the warmth of the land. The contrast between the turbulent sky and the quiet resilience of the tree creates a landscape that feels both powerful and deeply still.

I have always been fascinated by the emotional weight of weather. Rather than painting a particular place, I paint the atmosphere that lingers after memory has softened its edges. The tree becomes an anchor, standing calmly beneath an immense sky, reminding us that even in uncertain moments there is beauty, strength and quiet endurance.

Painted in oils on canvas, this work is designed to bring a sense of depth, calm and conversation to a room, whether displayed as a statement piece or within a carefully collected interior.

The artwork is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and will be carefully packaged to ensure it arrives safely in its new home.

If this painting is close to what you're looking for but you'd like a different size, colour palette or proportion, I would be delighted to discuss creating a commissioned work inspired by this piece.

Artist Bio

Lucinda Leveille is an Australian landscape artist based in Queensland, known for atmospheric oil paintings that explore weather, stillness, distance and the emotional presence of place.

Working primarily in oils, Lucinda creates original landscape paintings shaped by memory, light and the quiet tension of changing skies. Her work often features clouds, trees, open land, distant roads and weather-filled horizons, sitting somewhere between realism and abstraction.

A graduate of the National Art School in Sydney, Lucinda has painted for many years and has exhibited widely, with work held in private collections across Australia and overseas. She has been recognised as one of Bluethumb’s Top 50 artists, placing her among the top-selling artists on the platform.

Her paintings are created as one-of-a-kind originals, with no prints or reproductions. Each work is developed slowly through layers of oil paint, colour, atmosphere and feeling, offering collectors a quiet place to arrive within the landscape.
