Artwork Description

This painting is of the first advances of a young male Galah to a female Galah , before the pairing off for the winter season.
There are similarities of a nervous teenage lad making a careful & heartfelt approach to a girl. His urging friends are in the background.

Artist Bio

Lurlene Murray was born & grew up in Kalgoorlie with a variety of pets. Influenced by her fathers sketching, respect for animals & their characteristics. He was passionate that pet birds should not be confined to a small cage. The owner should be encouraged to handle & let them out, or if unable at least have them in a large aviary.
From this the passion for understanding animals & birds began. Other mediums , oils, and also watercolour have been used. At present it is acrylic on canvas.
To delve into a wonderful world of acrylic painting. Detailed painting is irrelevant as the aim is to show some movement of the birds, but especially capture something of their character.
. To hold the viewers attention for a moment to relate to the painting & the subject is a bonus. Most of the works are adapted from photo’s that her husband Alex takes. The majority of the birds are friends that enter their backyard, therefore most of the birds have been observed over time.
Over time work has been exhibition & sold in a variety of group exhibitions.
