Etching on paper
Signed and numbered on the front.
Striated Pardalotes (Pardalotus striatus) are one of the smallest Australian birds. They are just 8-10cm in length and weigh approximately 10 grams. They are beautiful little birds with white eyebrows and a yellow spot in front of the eye, olive-grey backs and a white stripe in the wing. They have a white stripe in the wing, and a coloured spot at the front end of this stripe may be red or yellow depending on location, and the black crown may have white stripes. Here an adult emerges from it’s nest in a hollow. Often the first sign they are present is the distinctive call they make, often from high in the tree canopy. Their tiny size and jewel like markings make them a favourite with many observers.
