Artwork Description

Dragonflies are one of my enduring motifs that I am driven to paint regularly. They have always intrigued me with their aerobatic displays, their beauty and their entire life cycle.
They are however more than just a pretty, flitting creature and to many they spiritually symbolize transformation, change and adaptability, representing the journey from one stage of life to another. These stages are often linked to self-realization and overcoming illusions, but also to personal challenges say in the health sphere or the passing of a loved one. They are seen as messengers between the physical and spiritual realms, carrying messages of hope, joy, and prosperity. Their agile flight and connection to water and light also connect them to emotions, the present moment, and a deeper understanding of life's complexities.

These dragonflies brought alive with impasto and tipped with warm gold are flitting on a vibrant turquoise green and blue hazy background splashed with warm gold and bronze flashes.

*** Please note my artwork is signed on the back so the work can be hung either horizontally or vertically without the signature looking out of place.

Artist Bio

Lyndsey is an Australian (NZ born) contemporary, eclectic artist creating unique paintings, prints and sculptures inspired by nature from her Sydney studio.

Taking a very varied approach to her chosen subjects Lyndsey is somewhat of a chameleon, never staying within one genre or style. Lyndsey chooses her colour palettes with care, aiming to create tranquil, calm even meditative works or enhance with bright hues and bold strokes along with many other physical applications of paint, pen, pencil and more. Flitting from each discipline as inspiration hits, Lyndsey is a responsive artist.

Some career highlights have been works featured in the media from her many and varied Bald Archy portrait artworks.

Also a finalist in many art competitions such as The Hills Grammar Acquisitive Art Prize, Blacktown Art Prize, Hunters Hill Art Prize, The Bald Archy, Westmead Art Prize to name a few, and has won multiple awards in different disciplines. Her artworks are found in private and public institutions here in Australia and overseas. Lyndsey was honoured to be one of 3 artists involved in bringing "Drawing on Memory" to life for Holocaust Survivor Harry Fransman (featured on Channel 7's Weekend Sunrise).

Education includes a Diploma of Fine Art from The Sydney Gallery School, study at Julian Ashton School of Art, Waikato Polytech and many casual art workshops after being predominantly a self taught artist.
