From a distance, this piece could be a watercolour painting; with an audacious
depth of colour and a commanding mix of soft and stark shapes. Up close, the textured
layers of the collage protrude with light-hearted clarity.

Made from recycled paintings, this collage manifests the regeneration of the seasons. Using
old paintings to create a new one reflects on the pre-industrial tradition to ration and save
summer’s bountiful harvest to survive through tough winters.

I'm not from Australia originally—but I adore the native flowers and plants. This is a study of a native bouquet, filled with Waratahs and eucalyptus and all kinds of beautiful colourful Australian flora. This bouquet sat on my blue kitchen table and I loved to look at it in the warm morning light — it would fill me with joy. So I made this artwork of it!
