I studied traditional techniques for drawing and painting in oils at the Julian Ashton Art School, The Rocks, Sydney. My influences have been many-fold. I have always loved the French Impressionists... also Australian artists depicting early pioneering life such as Tom Roberts, and the wonderful Australian Impressionists partnership in love and art of Ethel Carrick and Emmanuel Phillips Fox - beautiful, colourful scenes and lighting effects.
My travels throughout the world have developed me as a person and an artist.
I've always loved painting people - figures in movement and achieving likenesses. Last year I was honoured to receive 1st Prize for Portraiture at the D'arcy Doyle awards. The interplay of bold colours and shapes is something I am focussing on now ... and experimenting with levels of abstraction.
Mediums: oils, acrylics, watercolours and pastels. I accept private commissions.
