Artwork Description

Breakfast at "Sweethearts Cafe" on a Sunday in Autumn ... people conversing, chatting about the latest news, hanging about to interrupt a conversation, window shopping. Just the casual, relaxing activities one does on a Sunday.

Artist Bio

I am an artist, who has been painting since the 1970s, when I was trained at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney. I am influenced by the fresh approach of the French Impressionists towards colour and light, and many of our Australian artists, especially Russell Drysdale, Ethel Carrick Fox, Margaret Olley and Tom Roberts.

I live on the Gold Coast and have gained a lot of experience and art reference materials during my travels around Wales, England, Yugoslavia, America and New Zealand. My artworks reflect this diversity – people in beach and cafe scenes on the Gold Coast, shopping in Manhattan, and in villages in Yugoslavia.

My philosophic approach is to express the beauty of movement, the transient moment, and how people interact within their various environments. I want to bring more awareness to the beauty around us and to relaxing activities such as appreciating nature, shopping, surfing, and sharing coffee with friends. I am fascinated by capturing a transient moment either via camera or paintbrush, and paint from original photos or sketches created on the spot.

My approach to art is to make every brushstroke count, and I focus on infusing positive energy into my work, often painting whilst listening to music.
