This is the third Blue Mallee painting now and I decided to only paint it's leaves to emphasises on their disk blue shape that makes them so recognizable. This year has made me realised that my landscapes are not meant to be hyper realistic, but artistic. Alterations and experimenting and not overthinking allows me to create these impressionistic interpretations of the land. In this piece, I specifically wanted to resemble that laid back feeling in winter, sitting under a tree, admiring the leaves and clouds. I'm not done painting these Blue Mallees, they're quite the challenge!
