“Turbaned Holy Man”
Reading a 1954 National Geographic last night, and came across a wonderful article covering the great diversity of Ethiopia.
A land still ruled by the Emperor, Haile Selastie. Where a missionary was greeted by a shower of little arrows attempting to take medicines to a primitive tribe. Where 10ft rock pythons are dragged from their dens by their tails and sold to feed a family and tribesmen carrying spears and hippopotamus-hide shields, walk the neon lighted streets of the Capital, Addis Ababa.
I have never been there and wonder how much has really changed in 60 years.
