COUNTERPOINT
My story behind this artwork:
We donโt truly know what we believe until those beliefs get tested.
The beauty in pain and trials is the witness of what truly is in you. It is easy to walk in grace and love when the sun is shining itโs fair face upon you, when the sweet wind whispers promises of joyous tomorrows and the seeds you planted are blossoming into harvest. Oh how easy to tread our path scattering kindness and gentle benediction to all who come across it.
But the quality of our soul is bared for all the world to see in the face of fierce storms, when unrelenting torrents of rain have washed our harvest into oblivion and the suns fair face is no longer gentle, but fiercely scorches our skin, blinding, scourging and stripping us of all facades of civility. Surely this is the time to rage, to curse the unfairness and injustice, the seeming vindictiveness... and yet... With our shields burned away, we are exposed to the core, and we come face to face with the reality of the foundations of who we truly are. Only then can we humble self and choose joy where we thought it could not exist, choose love where we thought it must die. And so, like the Phoenix, we can rise from the ashes, more alive, simplified to the purest essentials of our belief.
This is the counterpoint of beauty and pain.

Features brilliant blue, peaches and pinks, mint green and soft yellow. Painted with acrylics on art paper with lots of beautiful shapes.
'Geotricity' series focuses on endlessly fascinating geometric pieces with vibrant colour. Through geometric shapes and the 3dimensional look they create, I explore thoughts around our perspectives and views as individual humans, and the way we both fight to be heard, and learn to listen. They offer a new story every time you see them, with their varying 3dimensional nature. Geotricity is my most regimented series, exploring both the rhythm in music and life, as well as themes around shifting perspective โ it involves structured, repetitive geometric shapes and patterns, with block colours, and designs that incorporate optical illusions to trick the eye and provide endless fascination.
