This large portrait, depicting a lion catching the first light as it emerges from the darkness of his den was painstakingly painted, hair by hair.
My aim was to capture the lion both simultaneously majestic and fierce. I studied a lot of lions in the lead up to this piece in order to find out more about their nature and physicality.
