Artwork Description

Opalus was inspired by a necklace my artist sister-in-law created for my daughters 21st. We sat pouring over a myriad of beautiful opals to choose the most representative piece for my lass. Uncut boulder opal comes in spectacular colours, beginning its creation as water pouring through rock, picking up sediment then evaporating, along with compression over time. Like diamonds, it reminds of the battles within that ultimately manifest as beautiful creations. It is believed that the word opal comes from the Sanskrit work "upala" meaning "precious stone". "Opalus" exhibits the beautiful colours of Australian earth, rock and vivid Cobalt blue....fall in love with her!
