This artwork brings together an English play and a Japanese story of the red string.
According to Japanese legend, there is an invisible red string tied around a person’s little finger. It connects two people destined to be lovers, regardless of time, place or circumstance. The invisible red string may stretch, twist or tangle but never break.
I combined ‘the red strings’ with Shakespeare’s play, ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’. Four people are in the woods. When the love potion made both boys loved Helena, Hermia felt being alone....
