Delicacy

I'm heavily influenced by the landscape on which I live within the Southern Moreton Bay Region of South east Queensland, Australia. The colours I use are not typically the colours one sees in the landscape but I love to paint with passion and have colours around me that inspire and are wonderfully easy to live with.
I use artist quality light-fast soft pastel on archival sanded paper which will survive for centuries.
This pastel piece is not framed as I have found that personal taste is a big factor in choosing frames. Buying unframed also saves a lot of money for the purchaser as he/she can then choose a frame which suits their own personal budget and decor. My pastel paintings are shipped between acid free foam core boards ready to take right to the framer and are totally safe to post. This also resolves the problem of glass breakage in transit and framing damage which is not covered by insurance.

Based on Coochiemudlo, a smaller island situated approximately a kilometre off the coast of Queensland, between Brisbane and North Stradbroke Island, Millie, an award winning artist, is innately influenced by the abundance of foliage and wildlife that inhabit her locality.
Unbound to a sole medium or creative methodology, her depictions align with the subject’s intrinsic elements and resonance. Millie paints in a way that depicts her thoughts and feelings of the subject, which has helped her tremendously throughout her adult life and experiences.
“There is no grief as you embrace and involve yourself deeply within the subject of your painting,” Millie states after the passing of her only son in 2003. “Painting was a lifesaving form of comfort at the time of my son’s passing, and continues to be up to the present moment.”
Millie possesses a BA in Fine Arts from Charles Sturt University and a Masters in Art Therapy from the University of Queensland.
