Artwork Description

It was in early Spring when we drove up the mountains to visit Blackheath (for the yummy sourdough bread) and Govetts Leap Lookout. A tad disappointed to see that the road to the lookout was closed, but we were still able to walk down a track to the lookout. It was on our way back to the cultural centre that we saw these beautiful pink red blooms pop up. "Blossoming Native Waratah" is my take on this beauty. Love seeing these gorgeous flower heads we encountered in the wild as we were out and about enjoying the great outdoors.
Original painting created in November 2022. Signed on the front.

Monika Scheffler is a Sydney based visual artist who specialises in acrylic and watercolour paintings. She was hooked for life in 2012, when she started participating in various courses to this day, either online, in classrooms and workshops.
Monika draws inspiration from nature and captures its beauty in her realistic to impressionistic style. Her artworks can feature delicate details, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colours. Her goal is to bring joy and peace to the viewer through her natural landscapes and floral art.
Monika has exhibited her paintings in several group art shows, online platforms as well as a gallery in collaboration with another artist and has won several awards along the way, receiving positive feedback from critics and collectors alike. Some of her notable works include “Blue Mountains – Three Sisters”, “Govetts Leap Blue Mountains”, “Flower Power”, “Manly Ferry Ride at Sunset” and “Autumn Sunshine”.
For this year, in response to the world around us, Monika has set her sights to creating more impressionistic floral artworks, incorporating her love of colours as well as honing her skills with soft pastels after having participated in a workshop in recent times amidst finalising projects she began last year.
