"Coral Red Blooms in the Blue Mountains" is an acrylic painting inspired by one of our visits to the cool climate Botanic Gardens at Mt Tomah in the beautiful Blue Mountains National Park, NSW. It was in early spring and I did a double take when we came across this Aloe plant. Just breathtaking with her Coral coloured blooms contrasting against the trees and the Blue Mountains in the background. Painted in an impressionistic style, using lots of colour in the foreground and an inquisitive lizard moving in and out of the pathway.
This is a smaller piece of my original Mixed Media piece I created as a demo for the Artist Palette Magazine a number of years ago.
This was one of my last acrylic paintings of 2019... I could never have imagined that so much devastation was around the corner with the Gospers Mountain mega bushfire.
So happy to hear that towards the end of 2020, there are many signs of recovery and rejuvenation.
