Artwork Description

"Memories of Summer" is a seascape from around Green Island in northern Queensland. Inspiration came from looking at photos of our visit, going down memory lane. Yearning to spend more time in Nth Queensland, especially with the trying year we've had, I revisited and updated this artwork, which just epitomises what one can get up to during the warm summer months. It's been a very long time since we'd visited Green Island, Nth Queensland, I used some artistic license by adding some yachts as a regatta, just to add a bit of interest. If you look closely, there are some people watching the yachts as they head south as well as some sea gulls.

Artist Bio

Monika Scheffler is a Sydney based visual artist who specialises in acrylic and watercolour paintings. She was hooked for life in 2012, when she started participating in various courses to this day, either online, in classrooms and workshops.
Monika draws inspiration from nature and captures its beauty in her realistic to impressionistic style. Her artworks can feature delicate details, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colours. Her goal is to bring joy and peace to the viewer through her natural landscapes and floral art.
Monika has exhibited her paintings in several group art shows, online platforms as well as a gallery in collaboration with another artist and has won several awards along the way, receiving positive feedback from critics and collectors alike. Some of her notable works include “Blue Mountains – Three Sisters”, “Govetts Leap Blue Mountains”, “Flower Power”, “Manly Ferry Ride at Sunset” and “Autumn Sunshine”.
For this year, in response to the world around us, Monika has set her sights to creating more impressionistic floral artworks, incorporating her love of colours as well as honing her skills with soft pastels after having participated in a workshop in recent times amidst finalising projects she began last year.
