Artwork Description

Welcome to a new challenge I have set myself, totally different to my representational work.
This is another one in my intuitive art series, where I just go by my feelings and imagination, keeping to my love of organic lines and shapes. "Ocean Blues" inspired by our summers and welcomes you to imagine the beautiful azure blues of our coastal beaches and how the ocean is teeming with strange life beneath the surface.
I started with a base coat of Prussian blue mixed with white. Once dry, with dollops of various colours, I used a palette knife to create various organic shapes, (some with impasto effects) followed by heavy pigmented inks of blues, turquoise and white, within and around the shapes, letting them spread and mingle.
May this painting bring you joy and peace with it's many azure blue tones.

Artist Bio

Monika Scheffler is a Sydney based visual artist who specialises in acrylic and watercolour paintings. She was hooked for life in 2012, when she started participating in various courses to this day, either online, in classrooms and workshops.
Monika draws inspiration from nature and captures its beauty in her realistic to impressionistic style. Her artworks can feature delicate details, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colours. Her goal is to bring joy and peace to the viewer through her natural landscapes and floral art.
Monika has exhibited her paintings in several group art shows, online platforms as well as a gallery in collaboration with another artist and has won several awards along the way, receiving positive feedback from critics and collectors alike. Some of her notable works include “Blue Mountains – Three Sisters”, “Govetts Leap Blue Mountains”, “Flower Power”, “Manly Ferry Ride at Sunset” and “Autumn Sunshine”.
For this year, in response to the world around us, Monika has set her sights to creating more impressionistic floral artworks, incorporating her love of colours as well as honing her skills with soft pastels after having participated in a workshop in recent times amidst finalising projects she began last year.
