Samba Dancer

This painting of a samba dancer in Brazil, is one of a series I have completed on women in traditional costume from different countries around the world. I love the amazing, bright outfits the women wear with big feathers on their head. The Rio Carnival is a constant splash of colour and bling. I have used some rhinestones in the headpiece to make the painting sparkle in the light as well as a gold background for that added shine.

I am an Adelaide based artist and have been painting since 2017. I specialise in bird and pet portraits using acrylic paint. I have undertaken art courses and continue to attend various art workshops broadening my knowledge about different subject matters and painting techniques. I have also participated in various art exhibitions over the years.

My style is realism as I prefer to paint from my own reference photos, particularly of animals and landscapes. I take great pride in my work and spend many hours trying to make my artwork look as realistic as possible. Occasionally, I will paint in an abstract style if my paint brush takes me there.

I am passionate about painting and couldn’t imagine my life without it. With all the stress, uncertainty and craziness of life, I hope my paintings bring happiness to those who see them.
